End of the School Year Teacher Gift Ideas

I am a terrible gift buyer! I hate buying something for someone because I’m always in fear that they’ll hate it! Here are a few of my go to teacher gift ideas that are safe for anyone on your list!

Giving gifts to teachers is a meaningful way to express appreciation and gratitude for their tireless dedication and hard work. Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of students, guiding them academically, emotionally, and socially. They invest their time, energy, and passion into creating engaging lessons, providing individualized support, and fostering a positive classroom environment.

By giving gifts to teachers, we acknowledge their tremendous impact and show our recognition for their commitment to education. Teacher gift ideas serve as tokens of appreciation, uplifting teachers’ spirits, and reminding them that their efforts are valued and cherished. Moreover, thoughtful gifts can also provide practical support, such as classroom supplies or resources, enhancing the learning experience for both teachers and students.

Teacher Gift Ideas: Gift Cards

Gift cards are my favorite teacher gift ideas! When in doubt, gift cards are always the way to go! You’ve listened to your paraprofessionals and team all year, so pay attention to where they shop, buy groceries, and like to eat. You can always get them a $10-20 gift card to their favorite places or go with something fancier like a local steak restaurant and get a “dinner on you”.

Snack Basket

Like I’ve said you’ve watched and listened to colleagues all year! Grab 3-5 items of their favorite snacks and put it together as a gift! Bonus points if you add their favorite drinks as well!

Team Sweet:

  • Chocolate
  • Candy
  • Cookies
  • Cakes
  • Fruit Snacks
  • Rice Krispie Treats
  • Gum
  • Mints

Team Salty and Savory:

  • Pretzels
  • Chips
  • Popcorn
  • Cheez-Its
  • Goldfish
  • Crackers and Cheese
  • Meat and Cheese Plate

Self Care Basket

Be careful when creating a self care basket, and make it personal to your receiver! Don’t just do the standard coffee mug and socks. That may come off as impersonal.

If they love candles, body soaps, lotion – do that! You can put together some cute bath bombs, candles and shower steamers (not from Bath and Body Works). Get a new nail polish color or nail file kit! Give them your favorite cuticle oil or a cozy blanket or robe!

If they’re more of a coffee drinker, create a basket with coffee pods, a new travel coffee mug, creamer, stirrers, or a coffee cream frother. If they love wine or beer, get a new glass and their favorite adult beverage – you can never go wrong with some new wine!

Maybe they’re not into any of those things. You can create a picnic basket gift for them to take their significant other on a date night.

Classroom Supplies Basket

We all know that classroom supplies go missing in the classroom! Try personalizing a clipboard or a pen just for them to use! You can also create a work station for them to keep their pens, paper, or personal items. You can also get them their own fancy scissors, paper cutter or anything else they need to help you prep materials! This can also include a new work bag or back pack!

Books for Leisure / Development

Without sounding like you want them to touch up on their skills, you can gift them a book that you’ve read about teaching or special education. There are many leisure special education books that don’t sound like professional development. If you need some book ideas, check out my teacher book recommendation list!

Teacher Gift Ideas: Something special

When in doubt, write them a nice card. Truly write how they’ve helped you this year, how much you’ve appreciated their support and how they’ve made the classroom feel like a family. I try to write my assistants a card every quarter to know that they are still appreciated, even on our toughest days! A little appreciation goes a long way!!
